Empowering Young Girls: Dubai Unveils Winter Ghiras 2025 Initiative

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has announced vital details regarding its “Winter Ghiras 2025” initiative, launched under the inspiring motto “Planting Values, Illuminating the Future.” Targeted at girls aged 7 to 16, the program will take place from 8 to 18 December 2025 in seven different locations throughout Dubai.

This program aligns with the Department’s goal of being “Closer to the Community,” aiming to broaden educational outreach and strengthen connections throughout the emirate. This year, the Winter Ghiras initiative has been revamped to reflect the rich cultural identity and social values of the UAE, incorporating the warmth and excitement of the anticipated winter season.

Through this initiative, Dubai Islamic Affairs aspires to equip the younger generation with positivity, robust morals, and actionable life values as the winter months approach. By combining learning with fun, the program promotes religious awareness and authentic Islamic values through modern, engaging teaching methods.

Official reports indicate that the program has already registered over 763 participants, facilitated by 43 qualified instructors and 64 dedicated volunteers. Offering 29 educational sessions, the initiative includes 188 interactive workshops, totaling 497 instructional hours. This structured framework showcases the Department’s commitment to producing high-quality content with a sustainable impact while serving the community effectively.

Ms. Sheikha Sultan Al Marri, Director of the Islamic Knowledge Programs Department and Head of the Winter Ghiras initiative, remarked that these encouraging results symbolize the community’s increasing confidence in the program. She highlighted its focus on enhancing religious understanding, behavioral skills, and faith-based values using contemporary educational methods that ensure a measurable and lasting effect.

She added that Winter Ghiras is a role model for seasonal educational initiatives, effectively merging educational aims with volunteer efforts during school breaks, in harmony with the UAE leadership’s vision of investing in human capital and cultivating knowledgeable, value-oriented generations.
