Srinagar – In a significant operation, the Jammu and Kashmir police have successfully dismantled a cross-border terror module associated with the banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. This crackdown has unveiled a concerning white-collar terrorist network comprised of professional individuals, including doctors, who allegedly coordinated terror activities under the tutelage of handlers from Pakistan and abroad.
During the operation, authorities seized an astonishing 2,900kg of explosive materials, including 350kg of ammonium nitrate, along with firearms, ammunition, and timers. Arrests were made at various locations, including the residences of Mujammil Shakeel, a healthcare professional in Haryana, and Adil Ahmad Rather, a physician based in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir.
The raids extended across multiple locations in J&K, namely Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian, as well as Faridabad near Delhi. In addition to Shakeel and Rather, five other suspects were taken into custody: Arif Nisar Dar, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Maqsood Ahmad Dar, Molvi Irfan Ahmad, and Zameer Ahmad Ahanger. Investigators are also scrutinizing a female doctor from Al-Falah Hospital, whose vehicle was found containing one of the recovered firearms.
Officials stated the terror network operated under the influence of Pakistan-based advisors, facilitating activities from propaganda to logistical preparations for future assaults. The confiscated weapons include an Italian-made Beretta pistol and a Russian Krinkov assault rifle, a highly efficient variant of the AK-74.
This operation highlights the rising menace of white-collar terrorism, where educated professionals leverage their positions to promote extremist goals. Authorities are actively tracing the flow of funds and international connections to fully dismantle the terror network.
The stockpile of 2,900kg of IED components—chemicals, batteries, wires, timers—poses grave national security risks. The find in Faridabad included 350kg of ammonium nitrate, which raised concerns about potential military-grade explosives.
This initiative comes in the light of increasing Pakistan-backed terrorist endeavors within J&K, with groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish preparing for potential strikes, infiltrations, and reconnaissance missions. Intelligence sources indicate a concerning alliance between Pakistan’s ISI, Lashkar, and IS-Khorasan Province, aimed at further destabilizing the region.
This operation represents a substantial victory against extremist networks in India and emphasizes the relentless vigilance of Indian security forces against evolving terror threats.
