Tragic Incident on Emirates Road Claims Lives of 7 Indian Workers

Post by : Bianca Haleem

On Monday, an unfortunate accident on Emirates Road in Dubai led to the deaths of seven Indian workers, with nine more sustaining injuries, according to Dubai Police.

Initial investigations indicated that a truck suddenly halted on the road due to mechanical issues, prompting a minibus carrying workers to collide with the rear of the stopped vehicle.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, who heads the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stated that preliminary findings suggest the bus driver may not have focused adequately on the traffic conditions or maintained a safe distance from the truck.

The incident resulted in seven fatalities, with nine individuals injured—five of whom are reported to be in critical condition while four others have moderate injuries. All injured persons were promptly transported to local hospitals for care.

The Indian Consulate in Dubai conveyed their condolences over the tragedy and confirmed their commitment to assisting the victims and their families in collaboration with local officials.

Representatives from the Indian mission visited hospitals to check on the injured workers and extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families, wishing a swift recovery to those hurt.

Dubai Police dispatched members of the Traffic Accident Investigation Section to gather evidence from the site and clarify the factors contributing to the crash.

Traffic patrol teams were deployed to manage the flow of vehicles, secure the scene, and ensure the efficient movement of emergency responders. Authorities also worked to clear the wreckage of the truck and minibus, restoring normal traffic patterns.

An investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains underway.
