Abu Dhabi Hosts Global Summit On Autonomous Mobility

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

In November 2025, Abu Dhabi will welcome the world’s top experts, leaders, and innovators for the first Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW). The event will run from 10th to 15th November 2025 and aims to showcase the future of smart and autonomous technologies. At the heart of this week-long program is the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, which will take place on 10th November at the Yas Marina Circuit’s Vehicle Dynamic Area.

Patronage Of Sheikh Hamdan

The event is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs and Chairman of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC). Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the Council’s mission is to support safe, sustainable, and innovative development in the autonomous systems sector. He emphasized that Abu Dhabi aims to become a global hub for cutting-edge technologies and a leader in smart mobility.

Summit Themes And Discussions

The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit will bring together global experts to discuss key issues shaping the future of mobility and automation. Topics will include the integration of air, land, and sea systems to create connected urban mobility, the expansion of smart transport models, and global standards for AI governance. The sessions will also focus on building public trust in autonomous systems, industrial applications for ports and cities, and the role of AI in decision-making. These discussions will help define a roadmap for scaling innovation worldwide.

Focusing On Innovation And Investment

The summit will not only examine technology but also the commercial and investment side of autonomous solutions. Participants will look at opportunities for scaling up innovations and creating clear investment pathways. They will also highlight the importance of sustainability, new business models, and developing the right talent to make these systems work at scale. This economic focus shows how autonomous mobility can contribute to long-term growth and development.

DRIFTx Exhibition

One of the major events during ADAW is DRIFTx, scheduled from 10th to 12th November. This exhibition will feature live demonstrations of smart and autonomous mobility solutions. Visitors will see technology across land, sea, air, and robotics in action. The interactive format of DRIFTx allows participants to experience these innovations firsthand, showing how autonomous systems can work in everyday life.

RoboCup Asia-Pacific Debuts In Region

Another highlight of the week will be RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025, hosted by Khalifa University. Running from 10th to 15th November, this will be the first time RoboCup is held in the Middle East and North Africa region. International teams will compete in robotics challenges powered by artificial intelligence. The competition will cover a wide range of applications, from rescue robots to soccer-playing machines, demonstrating how AI and autonomy can be applied in creative and practical ways.

Autonomous Racing League Finale

The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week will conclude with the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) on 15th November. This motorsport event, organized by ASPIRE and the Advanced Technology Research Council, is one of the most exciting showcases of autonomous technology. With a prize pool of US$2.25 million, the competition will feature research teams from 10 countries. It is expected to highlight the latest advances in autonomous racing and demonstrate the future of high-speed, driverless competitions.

Commitment To Innovation

The launch of Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week reflects the emirate’s broader commitment to building a strong, innovation-driven ecosystem. By bringing together experts in AI, robotics, mobility, and technology, the event positions Abu Dhabi as a leading destination for research, development, and collaboration. The focus is not only on technological progress but also on ensuring safe, sustainable, and efficient adoption of autonomous systems that improve quality of life.

Building A Global Hub

Through ADAW and similar initiatives, Abu Dhabi aims to strengthen its role as a global hub for smart mobility and advanced technologies. The emirate is investing heavily in research, partnerships, and global cooperation to stay at the forefront of innovation. With platforms like ADAW, Abu Dhabi demonstrates its ambition to connect industries, governments, and academic institutions to shape the future of autonomy worldwide.
