Abu Dhabi Introduces New Centre for Commercial Mediation

Abu Dhabi Introduces New Centre for Commercial Mediation

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has enacted Resolution No. 28 of 2026, establishing a Commercial Mediation Centre under the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This initiative aims to enhance the resolution of commercial disputes and bolster the emirate’s expanding business environment.

Issued in his role as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, the resolution outlines the framework for the centre.

The centre will function under the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while remaining aligned with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s oversight.

Located at the chamber's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the centre may expand by opening more branches across the emirate, enhancing accessibility for businesses seeking its services.

By providing a structured and modern approach to commercial mediation, the centre aims to enable businesses to resolve their disputes amicably and efficiently, offering a quicker alternative to traditional court processes.

Additionally, the centre promotes mediation as a viable alternative dispute resolution (ADR) method, while ensuring governance, fairness, and transparency in the process through neutral, flexible protocols.

As specified in the resolution, disputes may be referred to the centre by courts, or mediated consensually by involved parties, in alignment with UAE laws and agreed-upon procedures.

Settlement agreements facilitated by the mediation centre will receive approval from a supervising judge, obtaining legal enforceability under the UAE Federal Civil Procedures Law.

This development is poised to enhance Abu Dhabi's reputation as a premier business hub by providing firms with swift and effective dispute resolution mechanisms.
