In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, chaired a meeting of the Abu Dhabi Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council. The session showed the importance that the leadership places on artificial intelligence and advanced technology as key areas for the future.

Focus on Government Digital Strategy

The Council reviewed the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025–2027. This strategy has a bold aim: to make Abu Dhabi the world’s first AI-enabled government by the year 2027. The plan will use artificial intelligence to make government services faster, smarter, and more efficient. By doing this, Abu Dhabi hopes to set a global example of how technology can improve governance.

Global AI Developments and Local Plans

The members of the Council also studied the latest global developments in artificial intelligence. They looked at how AI is being used worldwide and how Abu Dhabi can adapt these technologies to its own needs. The meeting included discussions on projects, research, and investments in the emirate that are linked to AI and advanced technology.

Training and Awareness Programmes

Sheikh Tahnoon praised the efforts being made to train Abu Dhabi Government employees in artificial intelligence. These training programmes help staff understand how AI can be applied in daily government work. He also praised community initiatives that raise public awareness about AI, so that citizens can also take part in the digital transformation journey. This way, the entire society becomes part of the change.

Supporting Innovation and Future Sectors

His Highness confirmed that the Council continues to support future sectors and advanced technology in line with the vision of President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Council works on developing policies and strategies for AI technologies, research, and investments. These efforts also help Abu Dhabi attract new investments, international partnerships, and talented people from around the world.

Making Abu Dhabi a Global Technology Hub

The overall aim of these efforts is to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s role as a global player in artificial intelligence. By investing in the latest technologies, the emirate seeks to achieve its development goals and improve the quality of life for its people. Innovation and knowledge remain at the center of this journey, which matches the UAE’s national vision for the future.

Opportunities to Improve Services

During the meeting, members also discussed how new technologies can improve services in Abu Dhabi. They looked at opportunities to integrate AI into different areas of government to make life easier for residents. Improving the quality of life through technology is a key goal of Abu Dhabi’s digital strategy.

Attracting Global Companies and Talent

The Council also reviewed Abu Dhabi’s long-term vision for AI. This includes attracting the world’s leading AI companies to set up operations in the emirate. Another important focus is drawing top talent from around the globe. By doing this, Abu Dhabi hopes to increase its competitiveness and strengthen its position as a center for innovation.

Members were also briefed on important projects led by national institutions. These include initiatives from Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Department of Government Enablement, and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). Each of these institutions plays a role in building an AI-driven future for Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council was established in January 2024. Since then, it has been responsible for creating policies that support the use of AI technologies. It also works on research, innovation, and public-private collaboration. By building partnerships with international institutions, the Council aims to speed up the adoption of AI in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting highlighted how serious Abu Dhabi is about becoming a leader in artificial intelligence and advanced technology. By combining training, investments, research, and global partnerships, Abu Dhabi is preparing itself to be the first government in the world fully enabled by AI. This vision not only supports the UAE’s long-term goals but also ensures that innovation remains at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s journey into the future.
