Air India, IndiGo Resume Dubai Flights Amid West Asia Tension

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Airlines are gradually resuming flights to West Asia as the situation in the region stabilizes. On Wednesday, Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo announced the restart of flights to Dubai, while operations to some other cities remain suspended.

Air India and Air India Express will operate a total of 48 flights to and from West Asia on March 19. This includes 16 scheduled flights and 32 non-scheduled flights, connecting key destinations including Dubai.

IndiGo confirmed on X that flight operations to and from Dubai resumed at 1600 hrs local time on March 18, following an update from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.

Akasa Air said it is progressively restoring selected flights after assessing safety and reviewing the prevailing situation in the region.

The airline added, “Flights will operate to/from Riyadh and Mumbai starting today. We continue services to/from Jeddah, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, and Kozhikode.”

However, flights to Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Kuwait will remain suspended until March 21 due to airspace restrictions caused by the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Since the conflict began on February 28, around 2.6 lakh people have returned from the West Asia region to India, highlighting the disruption caused by the tension involving the US, Israel, and Iran.
