Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has announced a new decision that will strengthen the cultural and scientific sector in the emirate. He issued Emiri Decree No. 19 of 2025, which officially reforms the Board of Trustees of the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Sciences. This new decree renews the board for a two-year term, ensuring that the award continues to promote education, research, literature, and cultural activities.

This decision reflects the vision of Sheikh Humaid to provide continuous support for knowledge, cultural development, and scientific innovation in the United Arab Emirates. By reforming the board, Ajman aims to keep the award dynamic, modern, and effective in fulfilling its goals.

Leadership Of The New Board

According to the decree, Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. She will lead the team in shaping the direction and activities of the award. Her experience and dedication to cultural development make her a strong choice for this important position.

Alongside her, Dr. Khalifa Rashid Mohammed Al Shaali has been named the Vice Chairman. His academic and leadership background will provide valuable support in guiding the board’s decisions. Together, the Chairperson and Vice Chairman will oversee projects, manage award activities, and ensure that the cultural and scientific goals of the award are met.

Distinguished Members Of The Board

The decree also includes the appointment of several highly respected individuals who bring expertise from different fields of culture, science, and education. These members include:

  • Dr. Amna Khalifa Mohammed Al Ali

  • Dr. Khalid Abdulrahman Al Khaja

  • Dr. Khalid Mohammed Ahmed Al Baloushi

  • Dr. Saif Khalifa Rashid Al Shaali

  • Dr. Nahla Ahmed Humaid Al Qasimi

  • Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi

  • Dr. Amina Mohammed Hassan Al Harmoudi

  • Najiba Mohammed Hassan Al Rifai

In addition, Faiqa Hilal Jassim Bu Hazaa has been appointed as the rapporteur of the Board, responsible for recording and managing board activities and decisions.

The diverse makeup of the board ensures that the award will benefit from multiple perspectives and areas of expertise. The inclusion of scholars, writers, and researchers highlights the strong link between the award and the broader academic and cultural community.

Purpose Of The Rashid Bin Humaid Award

The Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Sciences is one of the most important cultural initiatives in Ajman. It was established under the guidance of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, a visionary leader who believed in supporting education, research, and creativity.

The award aims to encourage writers, researchers, and innovators from the UAE and the Arab world to contribute to knowledge and culture. It covers various fields including literature, science, education, environment, and social studies.

Over the years, the award has recognized many outstanding contributions in these fields, making it a platform that not only celebrates achievements but also inspires future generations. By honoring individuals who excel in culture and sciences, the award strengthens the UAE’s position as a hub for creativity and knowledge.

Cultural And Scientific Impact

The award plays a major role in promoting cultural awareness and supporting scientific progress. It encourages young researchers and writers to share their ideas, publish their work, and contribute to the growth of society. The recognition given by the award also helps to spread innovative solutions and cultural creativity.

With the new board in place, the award is expected to continue its mission of building bridges between tradition and modernity. It will encourage people to respect heritage while also embracing scientific and technological advancement.

Symbol Of Ajman’s Vision

The decision to reform the board is also a symbol of Ajman’s commitment to development. Under the leadership of Sheikh Humaid, Ajman has always given great importance to education, culture, and scientific research. This decree ensures that the award remains an active force in supporting these goals.

By appointing a balanced board of male and female leaders, the decree also reflects the UAE’s values of inclusion and equal participation in cultural and scientific development.

Effective Date And Official Publication

The decree is effective from the date of issuance, meaning the new board officially takes over immediately. To ensure full transparency and legal recognition, the decree will also be published in the Official Gazette of the Emirate of Ajman. This step makes the decision public and binding for all concerned parties.

With the new appointments, the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Sciences is expected to grow stronger in the coming years. The board will guide the award in launching new programs, expanding its scope, and reaching more participants locally and regionally.

Writers, researchers, scientists, and creative thinkers across the UAE and beyond will continue to look forward to the award as a platform for recognition. By supporting these fields, the award contributes not only to Ajman’s cultural identity but also to the knowledge economy of the UAE.

The issuance of Emiri Decree No. 19 of 2025 by Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi marks another important step in Ajman’s cultural and educational journey. By reforming the Board of Trustees of the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Sciences, the emirate has shown its deep commitment to nurturing knowledge, creativity, and innovation.

With Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan leading the board, and with the support of distinguished members, the award is set to continue inspiring scholars and creators. It will remain a strong symbol of Ajman’s vision for the future—a vision where culture and science go hand in hand to build a stronger, more enlightened society.
