Sheikh Nahyan Graces Al Ain Book Festival, Champions Literary Culture

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended the 16th Al Ain Book Festival 2025 today. The festival is hosted under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. This year’s theme is “For You, Al Ain Is Wider Than Home,” and the event will run until 30th November.

During his visit, Sheikh Nahyan toured various publishing houses and cultural pavilions. He examined their latest books and initiatives aimed at enriching Al Ain's cultural landscape. The visit underscored the ongoing efforts to strengthen the Arabic language, encourage reading, and support literary activities within the community.

Sheikh Nahyan remarked that the promotion of books and culture has been a fundamental principle in the UAE, championed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He emphasized that knowledge and reading have always been essential pillars of national development and progress. Continuously, the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, strives to actualize this vision by backing literary and intellectual initiatives, fostering creativity, and solidifying the nation’s role as a global hub for knowledge and culture.

Sheikh Nahyan noted that the Al Ain Book Festival embodies the UAE leadership’s vision of integrating culture into community life. He pointed out its significance in shaping future generations through knowledge, creativity, and tolerance. The festival features a rich lineup of events, interactive sessions, workshops, and activities, making it a cornerstone in the national cultural calendar.

This year, attendees can expect a unique cultural experience with over 100,000 book titles from more than 220 publishers and exhibitors. The festival showcases bestselling books, new releases, and provides ample opportunities for visitors to interact with authors, artists, and creators. It also fosters discussions and exchanges that promote creativity and intellectual growth.

Serving as the Gulf Tourism Capital 2025, Al Ain hosts the festival across various historical and cultural sites. Guests can immerse themselves in a blend of reading, cultural experiences, and the arts. The festival serves as an important platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge, highlighting the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s commitment to innovation and cultural enrichment in the UAE.

Sheikh Nahyan’s attendance highlights the UAE’s commitment to promoting books, reading, and creativity. The Al Ain Book Festival 2025 strives to reinforce the country's cultural identity, bolster the Arabic language, and kindle a passion for learning among all community members. The event reaffirms Al Ain’s crucial role in advancing culture, knowledge, and intellectual growth in the UAE.
