Aldar Group has pledged AED100 million to support the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans, an initiative launched by the Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
The initiative aims to establish a sustainable endowment fund that will provide long-term support for orphans across the UAE. Through this structured system, donations will be converted into investment assets, and the returns will be used to fund education, healthcare and daily living needs for orphaned children.
The announcement comes as the UAE marks the Year of Family, a national initiative focused on strengthening family values, social cohesion and support systems that help build a stable and resilient society.
The contribution was announced during an event at the Zayed National Museum, attended by senior officials including Abdul Hamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of Awqaf Abu Dhabi; Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Aldar; Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Secretary-General of Erth Zayed Philanthropies; Fahad Abdul Qader Al Qassim, Director General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi; and Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group CEO of Aldar.
Officials said the endowment reflects the UAE’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian work and social responsibility. By creating a sustainable financial model, the initiative aims to ensure that orphaned children receive continuous support and opportunities for growth.
Speaking at the event, Aldar Chairman Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak said the initiative reflects the UAE’s core values of compassion, responsibility and collective action. He noted that supporting vulnerable members of society is an important part of building a stronger future for the country.
Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Aldar, said the company believes that sustainable development should also include strong community support. He added that the partnership will help provide essential care and opportunities for young people while supporting national priorities for an inclusive and resilient society.
The initiative is inspired by the humanitarian values promoted by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, widely known as the Mother of the Nation, who has long championed programmes that support families, women and children in the UAE.
The announcement also coincided with Zayed Humanitarian Day, which honours the legacy of generosity and charity established by the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Through this initiative, Awqaf Abu Dhabi aims to further strengthen its efforts to align charitable projects with national priorities while ensuring long-term support for vulnerable members of society.
