Severe flooding in Mozambique has resulted from persistent heavy rains, inundating towns and wreaking havoc across the region. In the stricken southern town of Xai-Xai, crocodiles have been sighted roaming flooded streets, contributing to the chaos. Authorities have confirmed that three fatalities have occurred due to crocodile attacks.
Throughout southern Africa, relentless rains and flooding over the last month have claimed more than 100 lives across Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The disaster has led to the destruction of thousands of homes and critical infrastructure, impacting roads, bridges, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Mozambican authorities are urging residents to seek refuge on higher ground as evacuation efforts proceed, emphasizing the heightened danger posed by crocodiles in the flooded regions.
