Cultural Platforms Program Continues Its Activities In Ibra

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Cultural Club launched the latest edition of its Cultural Platforms Program today in the Wilayat of Ibra in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate. This marks the third major milestone of the program, which will continue for two full days. The event aims to strengthen cultural activity in different parts of the Sultanate of Oman and provide spaces for thoughtful discussions, creative ideas, and community engagement.

This initiative reflects the Club’s ongoing efforts to widen its cultural presence across various Wilayats. It also aims to support greater community participation and build stronger connections between academic institutions, cultural organizations, and individuals interested in developing intellectual and artistic knowledge. The program seeks to create a bridge between scholars, writers, poets, and the wider public who value cultural development.

The Cultural Platforms Program features a rich schedule of lectures, scientific workshops, and discussion sessions. These activities bring together leading researchers and academics who specialize in literature, urban heritage, folk poetry, and children’s education. By presenting a variety of topics, the program provides a comprehensive view of Oman’s cultural landscape and supports the development of local talents.

The first day of the event was hosted at the University of A’Sharqiyah in the Wilayat of Ibra. It began with a lecture titled "Urban Features in the Wilayat of Ibra," delivered by Dr. Nasser bin Saleh Al Ismaili. The lecture highlighted the historical and architectural characteristics that shape the identity of Ibra and its surrounding areas. Following this, participants attended a discussion session titled "Al Mazra’ah Village: History and Architecture," led by researcher Yacoub bin Mohammed Al Rawahi. This session explored the heritage of Al Mazra’ah and its importance in Omani history.

The program continued with another lecture titled "The Importance of Children's Literature in School Education," presented by Dr. Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Maamari from Abdullah bin Zaid Basic Education School for Boys. He emphasized how children’s books play a key role in developing imagination, values, and language skills among young students. This lecture particularly helped teachers and parents understand the lasting impact of encouraging reading at an early age.

The activities will continue tomorrow with a workshop on short story analysis conducted by Dr. Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Maamari. The workshop will guide participants on how to read, understand, and evaluate short stories in a simple and structured way. The program will also include a lecture titled "Critical Views on Folk Poetry," delivered by Dr. Said Al Wahaibi, who will discuss the artistic and cultural significance of Omani folk poetry.

Additionally, there will be a discussion session on "Omani Folk Literature," conducted by Dr. Ali bin Hamad Al Farsi and Dr. Bassam Barqawi from the University of A’Sharqiyah. This session will focus on different forms of folk literature, such as traditional stories, poems, and oral heritage. An evening discussion session titled "Stylistic Phenomena in Omani Poetic Verse" will also be held with participation from academics and critics who specialize in poetry and literary analysis.

The Cultural Platforms Program launched by the Cultural Club aims to deliver meaningful cultural content that matches the interests of the community. By organizing such programs across the Sultanate’s Governorates, the Club hopes to create vibrant cultural spaces where discussions can flourish, local talents can grow, and voices of creative individuals can be heard. These platforms reflect the Club’s commitment to strengthening the national cultural scene and celebrating literature, heritage, and other important intellectual areas.

Through this program, the Cultural Club seeks to ensure that cultural activities remain an essential part of Omani society. By supporting knowledge sharing and artistic expression, the program contributes to enriching the cultural identity of the nation and promoting an environment where creators, researchers, and learners can grow together.
