Delhi Police Approves Protest by Cockroach Janta Party Over NEET Paper Leak

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

On Saturday, the Delhi Police consented to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to conduct a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. This demonstration seeks the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to the ongoing NEET paper leak controversy, which has raised alarms among students and parents nationwide.

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the CJP, is orchestrating the protest and recently returned from the United States. Delhi Police officials greeted him at the airport and granted access to proceed to the protest venue.

Initially, Dipke had instructed supporters to assemble at the Parliament Street Police Station for permission. With the official go-ahead, he redirected attendees to Jantar Mantar.

To ensure public safety, Delhi Police have deployed approximately 2,000 personnel around the protest area and in Central Delhi. Enhanced security measures have been executed to keep the demonstration peaceful and to avoid disruptive impacts on daily public life.

A pamphlet distributed at the gathering outlines the protest's objectives: to demand accountability, justice for students impacted by the incident, and to call for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. The pamphlet mentions that a petition for the minister’s resignation has garnered over eight lakh signatures.

Launched by Abhijeet Dipke on May 16, the Cockroach Janta Party started as a satirical digital initiative and swiftly gained traction online, especially following controversial remarks from Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The platform has attracted millions of followers rapidly across various social media networks.

The protest has captured significant public attention, highlighting ongoing concerns about examination transparency and student rights that remain central to national discourse. Authorities are closely observing the events as protesters convene to express their demands in the capital.
