Dubai Basketball began their ABA League 2025 campaign with a commanding 92–58 victory against Croatian side Split at the Coca-Cola Arena on Monday evening. The team displayed excellent athleticism, teamwork, and offensive balance, signaling a strong start to the season.
Strong First Half Performance
Although Split initially kept pace, led by former Dubai player Leon Radošević, Dubai quickly took control in the second quarter. With high defensive intensity and smart rotations, the team built a double-digit lead by halftime that they maintained throughout the game. Key defensive plays by Filip Petrušev and scoring contributions from Dwayne Bacon and Klemen Prepelič were vital in establishing control early.
Maintaining Control in Second Half
The third quarter featured fast-paced exchanges, but Dubai’s deeper bench allowed the team to maintain dominance as Split’s energy dropped. Dubai’s strategy and teamwork were evident in their ability to stay focused and capitalize on every possession, keeping the scoreboard in their favor.
Impressive Fourth Quarter Finish
Dubai dominated the fourth quarter 35–15, completing a comprehensive 34-point win. Dwayne Bacon stood out with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The team’s offensive balance and defensive focus ensured that Split could not mount a comeback.
Coach Praises Team Effort
Head Coach Jurica Golemac praised the team’s performance: "We controlled the game for all 40 minutes. Our quality showed, and the team took this game seriously. I wish Split all the best for the rest of the season." His comments highlighted both the preparation and professionalism of the Dubai team.
Player Highlights Team Focus
Player Awudu Abass emphasized the importance of teamwork and focus: "Everyone contributed tonight. After two games last week, we stayed focused and supported each other, which made the difference." The players’ dedication and energy were key factors in the convincing win.
Dubai Basketball will return to the Coca-Cola Arena on October 16 for Round 4 of the EuroLeague. They will host Spanish giants FC Barcelona for their first-ever match in the UAE. Fans are encouraged to book tickets through the arena’s official website to witness the team’s next big challenge.
