Dubai International Airport Prepares for Unprecedented Festive Travel Surge

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is bracing for a record-setting holiday season, anticipating over 10 million travellers to pass through between 27 November and 31 December 2025. The surge kicks off with the UAE National Day long weekend, expected to see daily averages exceeding 294,000 passengers.

December is set to be the busiest month on record for DXB, projecting around 8.7 million passengers with daily traffic surpassing 300,000. The peak travel day is anticipated to be Saturday, 20 December, hitting approximately 303,000 travellers.

The travel trends will follow a regular pattern, with a majority of outbound travel leading up to National Day, as residents embark on short trips. By mid-December, the influx of guests is forecasted to rise significantly, spurred by Dubai's vibrant festive events and tourism activities.

In preparation for the high volume of travellers, Dubai Airports is collaborating with oneDXB partners, including airlines and control authorities, to facilitate seamless travel during this busy season.

Practical tips shared by DXB for efficient travel during peak times include:

  • Emirates passengers should utilize home check-in, early check-in options, and city check-in at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC.

  • It’s recommended for travellers to arrive no earlier than three hours prior to departure and to check in online when possible.

  • Families with children aged 12 and above can benefit from Smart Gates for expedited passport control.

  • Emirates First and Business Class passengers flying from Terminal 3 can take advantage of the “Red Carpet” Smart Tunnel for a quicker passport check.

  • Travellers should stay informed about destination travel regulations and keep all necessary documents handy.

  • Batteries and power banks should be packed in carry-on luggage.

  • Only passengers will be permitted inside terminals during peak times; farewells should occur outside.

  • The Dubai Metro offers convenient access to Terminals 1 and 3, with extended hours anticipated during the festive period.

  • Additional assistance is available for People of Determination, including accessible routes, Sunflower Lanyard support, and a dedicated lounge in Terminal 2.

  • Passengers can track flight and gate information via DXB Express Maps, accessible through a QR code.

  • Once at the airport, travellers can explore DXB’s extensive dining, shopping, and lounge options while awaiting their flights.

With arrangements in full effect and passenger numbers expected to exceed prior records, DXB is set for a bustling and well-organized holiday travel season as millions take to the skies.
