Preparations are in full swing at Meydan Racecourse for the prestigious Dubai World Cup, set to take place on 28 March. Some of the world’s best horses are finalizing their training, aiming for top honors in one of the biggest events in international horse racing.
Among the leading contenders is Meydaan, who has gained strong attention after his impressive victory in the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge on Super Saturday. His successful move from turf to dirt resulted in a dominant win, significantly boosting his chances ahead of the main race.
Trainer Ed Crisford confirmed that Meydaan is in excellent condition. While he acknowledged the tough competition, he expressed confidence as the horse enters the race with high morale.
Another strong contender is Tap Leader, trained by Doug Watson, who has shown consistent improvement this season. Defending champion Hit Show is also in focus as he aims to retain his title, while Forever Young is looking to achieve another major milestone.
In the Dubai Sheema Classic, West Wind Blows will face tough competition from top runners including Calandagan, Ethical Diamond, and Giavellotto.
The Dubai Turf race will see Japanese contender Gaia Force targeting his first Group 1 victory after a series of strong performances. Quddwah also enters the race with confidence following two important wins this season.
In the Dubai Golden Shaheen, experienced runner Colour Up will attempt to deliver a strong performance despite a challenging field. Meanwhile, Midland Money is considered a promising outsider who could surprise.
The UAE Derby will spotlight Rammaas, who has shown recent improvement, while the Al Quoz Sprint features leading names such as Cover Up and Marbaan.
The event continues to attract global participation, highlighting the UAE’s growing importance in international horse racing. With top horses, trainers, and jockeys competing, the Dubai World Cup remains one of the most important and highly anticipated races in the world.
