The eighth round of Qatar’s Longines Hathab equestrian series started on Thursday at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, continuing the excitement of the competition’s ninth season. The event, organised by the Qatar Equestrian Federation in partnership with Al Shaqab, will run for three days and aims to support the development of local riders and horses. The opening day included the 100cm Amateur class and the 130cm Silver class, attracting strong participation from experienced and young riders.
In the Amateur round, Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani secured first place on Zion with a time of 54.36 seconds. Maryam Abdulkarim finished second on Beyonce in 54.89 seconds, while Hamad Nasser Al Marri came third on Jumbo with 55.15 seconds. The winners were honoured by Mohammed Saleh Al Marri, Head of Facilities and Logistics for Longines Hathab. The competition reflected a high level of skill and highlighted the growing popularity of equestrian sports in Qatar.
The Silver class brought more excitement as Nasser Al Ghazali claimed the top spot on Dexter with a fast time of 26.85 seconds. Mohammed Abdullah Jumaa secured second place on Viheibi in 27 seconds, while Khalid Al Hadi finished third on Doremi in 27.65 seconds. The awards for the Silver class were presented by Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri, the tournament director, in recognition of the riders’ impressive performances.
The Longines Hathab series is known as Qatar’s top domestic equestrian circuit, designed to improve riding skills, support young talent, and strengthen the country’s equestrian culture. With each new round, the championship continues to showcase rising athletes and promote professional excellence in the sport. The current season is expected to deliver more competitive action as it moves forward, offering valuable opportunities for riders aiming to grow in Qatar equestrian events and national tournaments.
