Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Kuwait on Tuesday accompanied by a high-level delegation for an official visit. He was welcomed at Kuwait International Airport by HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and senior ministers.
During the visit, Erdogan presented HH the Amir with a Turkish-made Togg electric vehicle, symbolizing Turkey’s appreciation for strong bilateral ties. HH the Amir expressed gratitude for the gesture, wishing Erdogan and the Turkish people continued progress and prosperity.
Official discussions were held at Bayan Palace, attended by senior officials from both countries. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, energy, and defense. Both sides exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern.
Erdogan emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and highlighted the necessity of a two-state solution for lasting peace. He also underscored the unity of the Islamic world in supporting Palestine and stressed Turkey’s commitment to Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity.
The discussions highlighted existing cooperation in investment, energy, trade, and defense industries. Erdogan noted the potential to enhance deep-rooted bilateral ties and expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s role as GCC Chair. He mentioned the ongoing GCC-Turkey free trade agreement as a step to further strengthen economic relations.
Several agreements were signed at Bayan Palace, including a maritime transport agreement, mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates, cooperation in the energy sector, and direct investment incentives. These agreements aim to expand trade, improve maritime cooperation, and boost investment opportunities between the two nations.
HH the Amir hosted a banquet in honor of Erdogan and his delegation. After the meetings and signing ceremonies, Erdogan departed for Qatar, bidding farewell to HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince, HH the Prime Minister, and other officials.
The visit reinforced the spirit of friendship and understanding between Kuwait and Turkey. Both nations expressed a commitment to deepening cooperation across all sectors to promote regional stability, economic growth, and mutual prosperity, reflecting the strategic importance of their bilateral relationship.
