Hezbollah Warns Israelis to Leave Towns Near Lebanon Border

Hezbollah Warns Israelis to Leave Towns Near Lebanon Border

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Hezbollah has warned Israeli residents living within 5 kilometres of the Lebanon-Israel border to evacuate their towns. The warning was posted in Hebrew on the group's Telegram channel early Friday.

The message came less than a day after Israel issued evacuation warnings to residents in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The warning triggered a large movement of people leaving the area known as Dahiyeh, a stronghold of Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital.

Lebanon became more deeply involved in the Middle East conflict earlier this week when Hezbollah launched attacks toward Israel on Monday. In response, Israel carried out airstrikes targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs as well as areas in southern and eastern Lebanon.

In its statement, Hezbollah said Israel’s military actions, including attacks on Lebanese territory and civilian infrastructure, would not go unanswered.

Meanwhile, Israel has said it will not evacuate its border towns. The Israeli military has also deployed additional soldiers inside Lebanon, describing the move as a defensive step to protect Israeli citizens living near the border.

The exchange of warnings and military actions has increased tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, raising concerns about further escalation in the region.
