Abu Dhabi Celebrates Winners of Government Excellence Awards 2026

Post by : Bianca Haleem

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recognized the recipients of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance during an official event at ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The ceremony featured a gathering of high-ranking leaders and officials, including Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Dr Ahmed Mubarak bin Nawi Al Mazrouei, and Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, alongside heads of departments and members of the award jury.

These awards honor government entities for their commitment to excellence, innovation, and enhancements in public service delivery. The recognized organizations have adopted best practices, enhanced efficiency, and provided high-quality services that further Abu Dhabi’s strategic goals and international competitiveness.

Sheikh Khaled emphasized that the award demonstrates the leadership's vision in fostering a robust culture of excellence, innovation, and healthy competition across government entities. He mentioned that initiatives like these transform government services to be more proactive and aligned with community needs.

In this award cycle, a total of 37 entities and 103 joint initiatives were reviewed across six categories, including three Excellence Awards for the best-performing government departments and three awards recognizing collaborative projects that enhance innovation and partnerships.

The assessment involved over 90 local and international specialists, supported by a technical and grand jury. Additionally, advanced AI tools were employed to ensure precise and equitable evaluations of performance and impact.

In the Excellence Awards category, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi claimed first place for its substantial achievements, such as a reduction in infant mortality rates from 6.8 to 3.8 per 1,000 births over the past two years and attaining a remarkable IVF success rate of 56%.

Abu Dhabi Police secured the second position for their effective governance and community engagement efforts. Their “We Are All Police” initiative involved over 80,000 volunteers from 160 diverse nationalities and successfully reduced emergency response times to 6.25 minutes by 2025.

Ranking third was the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, which successfully boosted tourism growth, increased visitor numbers, and promoted Emirati culture on a global stage. Their initiatives contributed to the inclusion of three new cultural elements in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

Within the Collaborative Initiatives Awards, several impactful projects were acknowledged. The Strategic Impact Initiative Award went to the Department of Health’s Centres of Excellence programme and the Abu Dhabi Census project by the Statistics Centre, which utilized 38 million records from 29 entities to develop a real-time digital population system.

TAMM 3.0, managed by the Department of Government Enablement, and the Abu Dhabi Child Insights System from the Early Childhood Authority were awarded the Digital and Artificial Intelligence Initiative Award. TAMM 3.0 provides over 1,100 services across more than 40 entities, assisting 3.3 million users and handling nearly 1.9 million inquiries annually through AI.

The Child Insights System leverages data from over 14 governmental bodies to enhance service delivery and provide predictive insights for policymaking.

Finally, the Community and Family Impact Initiative Award recognized the Al Falah Development Initiative led by the Department of Community Development. This project included 13 partners and 86 stakeholders, delivering 24 programs over six months and positively affecting the lives of 67,000 residents in Al Falah.

These awards underscore Abu Dhabi's commitment to enhancing government performance, fostering innovation, and delivering superior services to its citizens.
