Inception42 Launches Seraj AI Model for Arabic Enterprise Solutions

Inception42 Launches Seraj AI Model for Arabic Enterprise Solutions

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Inception42 has announced the launch of Seraj, a new enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) model developed to strengthen Arabic-language AI capabilities for government organisations and businesses.

The model was created in collaboration with Microsoft and is now available through Compass, Core42’s sovereign AI platform. Seraj combines the performance of a frontier AI model with improved Arabic language understanding and greater awareness of cultural context.

The name Seraj, which means "light" or "illumination" in Arabic, reflects the model’s purpose of helping organisations build accurate, context-aware, and scalable AI applications in Arabic while maintaining strong performance in English and other languages.

Built on GPT-4.1 to Improve Arabic AI Performance

Seraj is built on GPT-4.1 and aims to solve a key challenge faced by organisations using AI across the region. While many advanced AI models perform well in English, they often struggle with Arabic language accuracy, regional dialects, cultural understanding, and safety-related responses. These limitations have made it difficult for organisations to deploy AI in sectors where Arabic fluency and contextual understanding are essential.

Instead of developing an Arabic-only model from scratch, Inception42 adopted a different approach. The company applied targeted mid-training techniques using carefully selected, high-quality Arabic datasets covering linguistics, cultural knowledge, safety scenarios, and enterprise-specific content. This process significantly improved Arabic language capabilities while preserving the model’s reasoning ability and multilingual performance.

Supports a Wide Range of Enterprise Applications

Seraj has been designed to handle multiple enterprise tasks across different industries. Its capabilities include document understanding, summarisation, translation, question answering, workflow automation, bilingual Arabic-English applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and knowledge-intensive tasks.

The model is intended for use across sectors including government, education, legal services, Islamic studies, media, and financial services, where accurate Arabic language processing is particularly important.

Inception42 Says Seraj Changes Enterprise AI Adoption

Ashish Koshy, CEO of Inception42, said: "Seraj is a gamechanger. Organisations across the region have been forced to choose between global AI capability and meaningful Arabic performance. Seraj changes that equation. From government services and legal analysis to customer engagement and knowledge management, the model is designed to help organisations deploy Arabic AI at scale with confidence."

Microsoft Highlights Importance of Regional AI Innovation

Rima Semaan, Director of AI and Enterprise Solutions at Microsoft UAE, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding the practical use of AI across the region.

She stated: "Microsoft’s collaboration with Inception42 on Seraj reflects a shared commitment to expanding the real-world impact of AI across the region. AI will create the greatest impact when it can understand and engage people in the languages they use every day. Seraj represents an important step forward in making advanced AI more relevant, accessible, and effective for Arabic-speaking organisations. By combining advanced frontier model capabilities with regionally relevant linguistic and cultural intelligence, Seraj supports the UAE’s broader vision of accelerating responsible AI adoption across governments, enterprises, and critical industries."

Growing Demand for Arabic Enterprise AI

The launch of Seraj comes as demand continues to grow for AI systems that can operate effectively in Arabic within complex enterprise environments. The model is designed to support organisations that require high levels of language precision, trust, and contextual understanding for business and government operations.
