A heartbreaking incident occurred in eastern Kazakhstan where an Indian medical student died and two others were injured after their vehicle was involved in a road accident during an excursion, as confirmed by the Indian Embassy on Tuesday.
The mishap involved a group of 11 students from Semey Medical University who were returning from a trip when the accident took place near Ust-Kamenagorsk, situated close to the Altai mountains.
The deceased, Mili Mohan, 25, was among the travelers. Injured were Ashika Sheejamini Santhosh and Jaseena B, both of whom have been reported as stable and are receiving medical care at City Hospital No. 1 in Ust-Kamenagorsk, according to embassy officials.
The Indian Embassy expressed profound sorrow due to the unfortunate loss of life, extending heartfelt condolences to the affected family. The officials stated they are maintaining communication with the university, local hospital authorities, and the families of the injured students.
Family members of those injured have arrived in Kazakhstan and are receiving support on-site. Embassy personnel are working closely with local authorities to provide necessary medical aid and logistical assistance.
Plans are underway to ensure the swift repatriation of Mili Mohan's remains to India. The Embassy has pledged to offer every possible support to the bereaved families during this tragic period.
This accident took place in the picturesque Altai region, known for its mountainous terrain across Kazakhstan, Russia, China, and Mongolia, a region that is also home to UNESCO-recognized sites highlighting its ecological and cultural importance.
