Indonesia has warmly embraced the UN Security Council's recently passed resolution backing U.S. President Donald Trump's initiative to conclude the ongoing conflict in Gaza and establish an international stabilization force. This stance places Indonesia among nations advocating for a unified and inclusive international approach to cease hostilities and restore stability in the region.
The U.S.-designed resolution, which gained approval on Monday, presents a blueprint for ensuring a sustainable ceasefire, safeguarding civilians, and initiating an international mission for order reestablishment in Gaza. Additionally, it aims to enhance diplomatic relations between Israel, Palestine, and the global community.
Following the resolution's approval, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its endorsement. Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang expressed that Indonesia “welcomed the resolution” and stressed the importance of “involvement from all parties, particularly the Palestinian Authority.” Her statements reflect Indonesia’s enduring view that any lasting peace initiative must give precedence to Palestinian representation and sovereignty.
As one of the most vocal advocates for Palestinian rights within Asia, Indonesia sees this resolution as a possible turning point, contingent on active and transparent participation from all related parties. Officials assert that the success of the stabilization force relies extensively on international collaboration, humanitarian access, and all stakeholders' commitment to maintaining the ceasefire.
The UNSC's decision comes amid growing global alarm, as the Gaza conflict has resulted in profound humanitarian distress and intensified calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities. If implemented effectively, the new stabilization force could aid in restoring essential services, support displaced families, and facilitate conditions conducive to longer-term peace negotiations.
Experts emphasize that Indonesia's response highlights its diplomatic philosophy of supporting widespread peace initiatives while asserting that Palestinian leadership must play a central role in any accord. This reflects Indonesia’s broader foreign policy objectives and its commitment to human rights, stability, and multilateral cooperation.
As discussions advance, Indonesia is poised to persist in advocating for humanitarian safeguards, political inclusiveness, and accountability, viewing these principles as essential for attaining a lasting resolution in Gaza.
With global attention firmly focused, the newly accepted resolution stands as a crucial milestone in the quest to end one of the most destructive conflicts of recent times. The following months will reveal whether collaborative international efforts and political resolve can transform the plan into tangible progress on the ground.
