Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba met with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in Tokyo on Thursday. They agreed to strengthen ties between Japan and Kuwait by upgrading their relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership.”
During the meeting, both leaders promised to work together to keep the global oil market stable and support efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Ishiba thanked Kuwait for its reliable supply of oil and recalled how both countries supported each other during tough times—like the Gulf War and Japan’s 2011 earthquake.
The Kuwaiti Crown Prince said his country is committed to keeping the global oil market steady.
Earlier that day, Prime Minister Ishiba also met with Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa. They agreed to further improve relations between Japan and Tanzania.
