In a proud moment for the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC), President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has awarded APC President Majid Al-Usaimi with the prestigious “Order of Friendship.” This special award was given in recognition of Al-Usaimi’s outstanding contributions to the Paralympic Movement across Asia. It also honors the important role the United Arab Emirates has played in supporting and empowering people of determination over the last ten years.

The award ceremony took place at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana. The event was attended by senior officials, government dignitaries, and representatives from the sports and Paralympic community. The reception reflected the importance of collaboration and mutual support between nations in advancing sports opportunities for people with disabilities.

Discussion on Paralympic Initiatives

During the official meeting, both sides discussed the Asian Paralympic Committee’s latest initiatives and programs. They focused on the participation of Kazakh athletes in international competitions, highlighting their achievements and dedication. The conversation also included Kazakhstan’s success in hosting major Para sports competitions, showing the country’s ability to organize international sporting events effectively.

These discussions provided a platform for sharing best practices and experiences in developing inclusive sports programs. The APC has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for people of determination in all Asian countries, and Kazakhstan has been recognized as a strong partner in this journey.

Progress of Kazakh Paralympic Movement

Both the Kazakh government and the APC emphasized the remarkable progress of Kazakhstan’s Paralympic Movement. They pointed out how closely Kazakhstan’s initiatives align with Asia’s wider development goals. By promoting sports for people of determination, Kazakhstan contributes not only to athletic excellence but also to social inclusion and empowerment.

The country has invested in infrastructure, training programs, and support systems for athletes with disabilities. These efforts show a long-term commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can participate in sports at a high level.

President Tokayev’s Appreciation

President Tokayev praised the Asian Paralympic Committee’s growing influence in the region. He specifically commended Majid Al-Usaimi’s leadership in advancing the Paralympic Movement in Asia. The Kazakh leader highlighted the importance of partnerships and international cooperation in achieving inclusive development.

Tokayev also underlined Kazakhstan’s dedication to being a genuine partner in creating a stronger and more inclusive Paralympic future. By working closely with organizations like the APC, Kazakhstan aims to build a sports ecosystem that celebrates talent, determination, and fairness.

APC President’s Gratitude

APC President Majid Al-Usaimi expressed his deep gratitude for receiving this honour. He said the award is not only a personal recognition but also a tribute to the UAE’s leadership in empowering people of determination. The recognition strengthens their shared commitment to sustainable development and the growth of the Paralympic Movement in Asia and worldwide.

Al-Usaimi emphasized that the award reflects the combined efforts of all stakeholders, including governments, sports organizations, and communities, in advancing inclusive sports and providing opportunities for people with disabilities.

Kazakhstan’s Role in Regional Paralympic Events

The APC President also praised the Kazakhstan Paralympic Committee for its remarkable work. He congratulated the country for successfully hosting the 8th APC Conference and General Assembly in Astana, one of the continent’s important Paralympic forums.

Such events are crucial in bringing together leaders, athletes, and officials to share knowledge, discuss challenges, and create new strategies for the future. Kazakhstan’s success in hosting the conference demonstrated its ability to lead and contribute significantly to the growth of Paralympic sports in Asia.

Promoting Inclusive Sports

Both Kazakhstan and the UAE have shown that promoting sports for people of determination goes beyond medals and competitions. It is about creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and inspiring communities. By investing in training, facilities, and international events, these countries are setting an example for the rest of Asia.

The partnership between Kazakhstan and the APC strengthens regional collaboration, ensures more athletes have access to professional support, and encourages countries to adopt policies that promote inclusivity and equality in sports.

Shared Vision for the Future

The meeting reinforced a shared vision for a stronger, more inclusive Paralympic Movement in Asia. Kazakhstan aims to continue its role as a key contributor to this growth. The country’s strategies focus on long-term development, improving infrastructure, and providing more opportunities for athletes with disabilities to shine on international stages.

Al-Usaimi highlighted that the recognition from President Tokayev motivates the APC to work harder. It encourages them to expand programs, support more athletes, and ensure the movement reaches every corner of Asia.

Building a Stronger Partnership

The award ceremony and the discussions marked a milestone in the partnership between Kazakhstan and the Asian Paralympic Committee. Both sides acknowledged that cooperation, mutual respect, and shared objectives are crucial to the success of the Paralympic Movement in Asia.

Kazakhstan’s support, combined with the UAE’s pioneering leadership, creates a strong network for promoting sports inclusivity, encouraging athletes, and empowering people of determination. This partnership serves as a model for other nations seeking to develop similar initiatives.

Inspiring Future Generations

Recognizing leaders like Majid Al-Usaimi helps inspire future generations of sports leaders, athletes, and advocates. By highlighting the importance of dedication, leadership, and international cooperation, young people across Asia can see the possibilities of making a difference in the Paralympic Movement.

The award emphasizes that inclusive sports programs benefit society as a whole. They promote social equality, physical and mental well-being, and a sense of community. As more countries follow this example, the Paralympic Movement in Asia will continue to grow stronger and more impactful.
