New Road Enhancements Launched in Kuala Lumpur to Combat Traffic

Post by : Shakul

Kuala Lumpur City Hall has initiated Projek Trafik Lancar, aimed at tackling persistent traffic congestion in the city. This initiative will enhance essential road networks in Segambut, Seputeh, and Wangsa Maju.

The mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Fadlun Mak Ujud, emphasized that this project marks a transformative approach to utilizing development funds. Revenues from new developments will now be redirected towards enhancing local infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, and public facilities.

In Segambut, a critical aspect of the project involves the construction of a 562-meter roadway featuring tunnel and bridge connections between Jalan Kiara 7 and the SPRINT Highway’s Penchala Link. Construction is expected to commence within two months and last approximately two years.

This upgrade is anticipated to notably enhance traffic conditions in Mont Kiara, an area currently plagued by congestion due to heavy residential development. The new route aims to cut down travel times and alleviate congestion on existing roads that cater to numerous condominiums.

Further, in Seputeh, DBKL plans to expand a crucial exit from the New Pantai Expressway to the KL-Seremban Highway from two lanes to three. This modification should significantly assist motorists from Jalan Kuchai Maju, Jalan Desa, and Salak during peak hours.

Simultaneously, in Wangsa Maju, authorities are gearing up to upgrade the busy junction at Jalan 7/24 and MRR2. This location has been marked as both a congestion problem area and a site prone to accidents, highlighting the importance of these enhancements.

Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh remarked that these upgrades have been long anticipated by residents since 2018 and are now set to proceed. Construction is slated to start between June and the end of 2026, with provisional traffic diversions planned during the execution of works.

This initiative is a part of a wider strategy to synchronize infrastructure development with urban expansion, thus improving commuting experiences for Kuala Lumpur residents.
