The First Conference of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Saudi Universities began at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. The opening day featured three scientific sessions and 13 workshops. Researchers, academic specialists, and representatives from local and international think tanks gathered to discuss key topics related to university innovation and entrepreneurship. The conference provides a platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative learning among experts in the field.

One major theme explored during the sessions was the economic impact of university business accelerators. Experts examined how these accelerators can boost local economies, create job opportunities, and support start-ups. The discussions emphasized best practices for creating sustainable entrepreneurial programs that strengthen the relationship between academic research and industry development.

Another key topic addressed was the development of performance indicators to improve entrepreneurial sustainability within universities. Researchers highlighted strategies to measure and track innovation initiatives, ensuring that university programs continue to produce meaningful and lasting results. These discussions aimed to provide institutions with practical tools to evaluate and enhance their entrepreneurial outcomes.

The role of generative AI in fostering innovation and creativity in higher education was also a central focus. Speakers shared insights on how AI technologies can support research, enhance learning experiences, and create innovative solutions for academic and business challenges. The use of AI in entrepreneurial activities was presented as a significant driver for transforming traditional university environments into dynamic hubs of creativity.

Participants also explored the latest trends in innovation and entrepreneurial transformation within universities. Sessions included international research on AI-driven supply chains and entrepreneurial opportunities. Experts shared case studies from around the world, highlighting how universities are adapting to global trends and preparing students for careers in innovative industries.

The 13 workshops offered hands-on experience for participants, enabling them to apply concepts discussed during the sessions. These workshops covered areas such as startup development, AI applications, and strategies for fostering entrepreneurial mindsets among students. Attendees had the opportunity to collaborate, exchange ideas, and gain practical skills to implement in their institutions.

The conference featured a distinguished lineup of local and international speakers. Experts shared their experiences and research findings, providing valuable guidance for universities seeking to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship programs. The sessions encouraged dialogue between academics and practitioners, highlighting best practices and innovative approaches to education and research.

The conference continues today with additional sessions and workshops. Topics include further discussions on supporting research, fostering innovation, and stimulating the knowledge economy. Participants will continue to explore ways to advance university entrepreneurship, leveraging the latest technologies and international research to create impactful educational programs.

By hosting this conference, Saudi universities aim to strengthen the country’s knowledge economy. The event encourages collaboration between academic institutions, industry leaders, and global experts. It also highlights the important role universities play in developing entrepreneurial talent and supporting innovation at both local and international levels.
