Manchester City secured a 2-0 win over Wydad AC from Morocco in their opening match of Group Seven at the FIFA Club World Cup. The match took place today at Lincoln Financial Field in the United States, marking the start of the prestigious competition.
With this victory, Manchester City earned their first three points of the tournament, placing them at the top of their group. On the other hand, Wydad AC is still without points following their loss.
The goals for Manchester City came early and late in the first half. Phil Foden found the back of the net in the 2nd minute, giving City a strong early lead. Later in the 42nd minute, Jérémy Doku doubled their advantage, ensuring the win.
In the same group, tomorrow's match will see Al Ain from the UAE face off against Italy’s Juventus, as both teams look to challenge Manchester City's position at the top of the group.
