The horse Mohtaram, owned by Al Ghazali Stud, made a remarkable debut by winning the Al Beshariyah Cup for Purebred Arabian Novice Horses aged between 4 and 7 years. The race, covering a distance of 1,900 meters, was the highlight of an exciting evening at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC).
Mohtaram, trained by Mohammed Al Ghazali and ridden by Marco Casamento, showed exceptional speed and stamina throughout the race. This victory marked Mohtaram’s first career win, setting the stage for a promising racing future in Qatar.
After the thrilling finish, Rashid Saeed Adiba, Head of Racing Operations at QREC, presented the Al Beshariyah Cup to the winning connections, celebrating their impressive start to the new racing season.
The evening began with the first race for locally bred Purebred Arabian novice horses aged 4 to 7 years, running over 1,700 meters. The winner was Achmed, owned by Wathnan Racing, who delivered a commanding performance.
Achmed was trained by Alban de Mieulle, a well-known name in Qatari racing, and ridden skillfully by Abdullah Rashid Faleh Al Hajri. The win gave Wathnan Racing an early celebration in the competition, showcasing the strength of their stable.
In the second race of the evening, reserved for locally bred Thoroughbred novices (Class 6, 3–7 years old, 1,200m), Al Sharia emerged victorious. The horse, owned and trained by Ibrahim Khaled Al Ahmed, delivered a solid performance under jockey Alberto Sanna.
Al Sharia’s victory displayed impressive sprinting ability and strong finishing pace, helping Al Ahmed secure a proud win on home ground.
The third race, a Thoroughbred Handicap (45–65) for horses aged 3 years and older, was run over 1,200 meters. It was won by Midnight City, owned by Mohammed Ibrahim Issa Mohammed Al Fadala.
Trained by Hamad Al Jehani and ridden by Stefan Mazur, Midnight City showed great control and acceleration in the final stretch. The performance reflected the horse’s readiness for higher-level challenges in upcoming events.
The fourth race was for locally bred Purebred Arabians (Handicap 55–75), aged 3 years and older, over 1,700 meters. Aneef Zakher claimed the top spot with a confident run.
Owned and trained by Engineer Osama Omar Ismail Al Dafaa, the horse was ridden by Marco Casamento, who enjoyed his second win of the evening. Casamento’s expert guidance ensured Aneef Zakher maintained rhythm and dominance until the finish line.
The fifth event of the night featured Purebred Arabians (Handicap 0–75), aged 3 years and older, over a distance of 1,200 meters. The winner was Jasmina Du Soleil, owned by Sharq Stud.
Under the training of Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Al Sulaiti and the riding skills of Hamad Meshlesh Al Khayarin, Jasmina Du Soleil showed remarkable pace, securing a comfortable victory and adding another highlight to the evening’s races.
The final race of the evening was for Thoroughbreds (Handicap 80–100), aged 4 years and older, over 1,700 meters. One Nation, owned by Hamad Ali Hamad Abdullah Al Mulla, delivered a masterclass performance to win.
Trained by Ahmed Al Jehani and ridden by Arnaud De Lepine, One Nation held strong throughout the race and surged ahead in the final stages. The horse’s endurance and skill made it a deserving winner of the closing event.
The evening’s races reflected the growing strength of Qatar’s horse racing community, highlighting both local talent and international expertise. With horses like Mohtaram making an impressive debut, and seasoned trainers guiding their stables to victory, the event once again underscored Qatar’s dedication to equestrian excellence.
Each race provided a blend of strategy, power, and precision, making it a memorable night for horse racing enthusiasts and setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.
