Netanyahu Expresses Support for India After Delhi Explosion

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent sincere condolences to India following the tragic explosion near Delhi's Red Fort, which resulted in nine fatalities and left 20 others injured. In a statement shared on X, Netanyahu highlighted the collective struggle of India and Israel against terrorism, underscoring the resilience of both nations.

“To my esteemed friend Narendra Modi and the courageous citizens of India: Sara and I, along with the people of Israel, extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families affected. Israel stands firmly with you in this time of sorrow and strength,” Netanyahu stated.

He remarked, “India and Israel are time-honored civilizations grounded in eternal truths. While terror may target our cities, it will never weaken our spirits. The light from our nations will eclipse the shadows of our adversaries.”

The blast, linked to the Pakistan-based terror organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, was alleged to have been meticulously planned for several months, with multiple targets across Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region, including Gurugram and Faridabad. Authorities have detained three doctors—Shaheen Saeed, Muzammil Shakeel Ganale, and Adeel Rather—while Dr. Umar Nabi is presumed to have carried out the suicide attack.

In the wake of Netanyahu’s statement, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar echoed sentiments of condolence toward the victims’ families, wishing a swift recovery for the injured and reiterating Israel's commitment to assisting India in the battle against terrorism.

Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar labeled the incident as “heart-wrenching” and commended the dedication of rescuers and security personnel. “The scenes in Delhi following the car explosion are truly heartbreaking, with many lives lost and injured. Our deepest sympathies to the victims' families. May those who survived recover swiftly. Kudos to the rescuers and security forces,” he shared on X.

These expressions of support from Israel highlight the strong diplomatic ties and mutual security interests shared by the two nations, reinforcing a united stance against global terrorism.
