The National Museum of Oman has opened a special exhibition and cultural events for Oman Day titled “The Splendor of Silver: Collections from the Omani Court” at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Minsk, Belarus. The event reflects the growing cultural relationship between Oman and Belarus and aims to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The exhibition will remain open to visitors until March 18, 2026.
The exhibition highlights Omani silver as one of the country’s oldest and most important traditional industries. It features rare silver artifacts once used by Omani sultans in Muscat and Zanzibar. These items show how silver played an important role not only in royal life but also in everyday Omani society, symbolizing beauty, protection, and skilled craftsmanship passed down through generations.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Highness Dr. Mona bint Fahd Al Said, who stressed the importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Oman and Belarus. She said such events help open new paths for intellectual and cultural cooperation and bring people closer through shared heritage and art.
The exhibition is divided into five main sections covering the Omani dagger, perfume culture, silver craftsmanship, traditional clothing, and elite fashion. Visitors can learn about the history and meaning of the Omani dagger, see rare perfume bottles from the early days of Amouage, and explore silver jewelry used for decoration, dowries, and financial security.
Another section focuses on traditional and elite clothing, including items linked to Omani history in East Africa. These displays help visitors understand Oman’s rich cultural identity and the deep connection between art, history, and daily life. The exhibition supports cultural cooperation and promotes Oman’s heritage on an international stage through museum diplomacy and artistic exchange.
