The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their strong defence and academic ties through a high-level military meeting in Muscat. Maj. Gen. Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies, received a delegation from the Royal Saudi Land Forces led by Maj. Gen. Ali Hamad Al-Juhani at Bait Al Falaj Camp. The visit reflects the ongoing commitment between the two nations to strengthen cooperation in defence training, education, and strategic research.
Maj. Gen. Sakroon welcomed the Saudi delegation and expressed appreciation for the deep-rooted relations between Oman and Saudi Arabia in various defence sectors. Both sides held discussions on several topics of shared interest, with a focus on academic and professional cooperation. They also explored ways to enhance the exchange of expertise in military education and strategic planning. The meeting demonstrated the mutual interest of both countries in improving defence learning systems and encouraging future collaboration among military institutions.
During the talks, the two sides highlighted the growing importance of developing professional military education that combines strategy, leadership, and modern defence science. Maj. Gen. Sakroon emphasized Oman’s commitment to expanding cooperation with its regional partners, especially Saudi Arabia, which plays a major role in regional security. He added that such meetings provide an opportunity to share experiences, strengthen friendship, and build institutional partnerships between the defence academies of both nations.
Following the meeting, the Saudi delegation visited the Joint Command and Staff College, which operates under the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies. Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Brig. Mohammed Ahmed Al Mashaikhi, Commandant of the College. Brig. Al Mashaikhi extended a warm welcome and gave an overview of the College’s mission, which focuses on training officers in command, management, and leadership skills to prepare them for higher military responsibilities.

The presentation highlighted how the College uses advanced learning technologies, simulation systems, and case-based exercises to enhance the decision-making abilities of officers. The delegation was impressed by Oman’s efforts to align military education with modern defence standards.
After the presentation, the Saudi delegation toured the College’s classrooms, simulation labs, and training facilities. They observed how the institution supports research and teamwork among Omani and allied officers. The visit concluded with discussions about future cooperation, including possible exchange programmes, workshops, and joint academic projects between the two military academies.
