The Omani-Kazakh Joint Committee held an important meeting today to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between Oman and Kazakhstan. The discussions focused on improving ties in trade, the economy, and investment opportunities. The meeting highlighted both countries’ interest in building stronger partnerships and expanding collaboration across multiple sectors.
The meeting was co-chaired by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs in Oman, and Alibek Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral relations and finding practical steps to achieve mutual benefits in economic growth and development.
During the discussions, the officials explored opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, water resources, and logistics. They also talked about the potential of opening direct flight routes between the two countries, which would make travel easier and boost business and tourism links. Strengthening transportation and logistics networks was seen as an essential step to increase trade and investment exchanges.
In addition to economic and trade cooperation, the two sides agreed on the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Both countries plan to exchange ideas and collaborate in using modern technology to enhance productivity, improve services, and develop innovative solutions in various sectors.
The meeting also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in the diplomatic and academic fields. Both countries expressed interest in promoting joint research, educational programs, and academic partnerships to enhance mutual understanding and knowledge sharing. This approach aims to build long-term relationships not only in government but also between the peoples of Oman and Kazakhstan.
Several high-ranking officials attended the meeting, including Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the Department for the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighborhood at the Omani Foreign Ministry, and Aidarbek Tumatov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Oman. Other senior representatives from both countries also participated, reflecting the importance of this dialogue in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Omani-Kazakh Joint Committee’s discussions demonstrate a shared commitment to expanding cooperation in areas that are beneficial for both nations. By focusing on trade, investment, technology, and education, Oman and Kazakhstan aim to create sustainable partnerships that support economic growth, innovation, and people-to-people connections.
With the agreed initiatives, both countries are expected to increase collaboration in practical ways that bring clear benefits to businesses, students, and communities. The meeting marks a significant step in building a strong foundation for future cooperation and closer ties between Oman and Kazakhstan.
