Musandam Schools to Shift to Online Learning Due to Heavy Rain

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Ministry of Education has announced that all government, private, and international schools in Musandam Governorate will move to distance learning tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 December 2025. This decision is a precaution due to forecasts of heavy rainfall, with up to 60 millimeters expected in some areas starting early morning. The announcement follows warnings from the National Centre for Emergency Management to keep students and staff safe during the severe weather.

The shift to online classes will allow students to continue their studies without risking travel in unsafe conditions. School authorities have been asked to ensure that all students and teachers are ready for remote learning and that lessons continue smoothly from home.

Officials have urged residents in Musandam to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and take necessary safety measures during the heavy rains. Roads and low-lying areas may be affected by water accumulation, so caution is advised when moving outdoors.

The Ministry emphasized that the decision applies to all types of schools, including government, private, and international institutions, highlighting the importance of safety during adverse weather conditions. Parents and guardians are encouraged to support students in attending online classes and following school instructions.

This temporary shift to distance learning reflects Oman’s proactive measures to protect students and staff while maintaining educational continuity during extreme weather events. Authorities will review the situation and announce when schools can safely resume in-person classes.
