President Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, in Tashkent today.
During the meeting, Al Yousef passed on the warm greetings and best wishes from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the President. He praised the strong and friendly relationship between the people of Oman and Uzbekistan.
Al Yousef also congratulated President Mirziyoyev on the historic achievement of Uzbekistan’s national football team, which has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time. He said this victory is not just a proud moment for Uzbekistan but for the entire Central Asian region.
The Omani minister appreciated Uzbekistan’s recent decision to allow Omani citizens to enter the country without a visa for up to 30 days. He said this move will help promote tourism and strengthen cultural and trade relations between the two nations.
Al Yousef also shared that Oman Air plans to start direct flights to Tashkent soon. This step is expected to make travel and communication easier between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, Al Yousef confirmed Oman’s strong commitment to growing its relationship with Uzbekistan. He said both countries are working together with respect, a shared vision, and a desire for mutual growth and prosperity.
The meeting took place during the 5th session of the Omani-Uzbek Joint Committee for Trade and Economic Cooperation. It was also held alongside roundtable discussions and the 4th Tashkent International Investment Forum. The aim of the visit was to explore new areas of cooperation and investment in important sectors.
Assayida Wafa Jabr Al Busaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, and several other officials from both countries attended the meeting.
