Sergei Sobyanin has proudly inaugurated the T2 tram line in Moscow, establishing a new record for the world's longest urban tram route at 33 kilometres.
This new line effectively links the southern and eastern sectors of the city, commencing at Chertanovskaya station in south Moscow and reaching Novogireevo station, a node on the Moscow Central Diameter Line 4 (MCD-4).
The T2 tram route has been meticulously designed to facilitate easier daily travel for residents, traversing through 13 densely populated neighborhoods and catering to over two million inhabitants. With 79 stops, it ensures comprehensive accessibility across key areas.
Despite its extensive span, taking over two hours to traverse the entire line, officials anticipate that the T2 tram will alleviate traffic congestions and boost connectivity among vital urban hubs.
The inauguration of the T2 tram line signifies Moscow's commitment to revamping its public transport systems, aiming to provide efficient and sustainable travel alternatives for its expanding populace.
