Oman to Host OTS 2025 Technology Summit on AI in Education

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Sultanate of Oman will host the OTS 2025 Technology Summit on 20th and 21st October 2025. The event is organized by the Research and Education Network (OMREN) under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. The summit aims to explore how technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), can transform education and research in Oman.

Focus on AI for Education and Research

This year’s summit emphasizes AI as a major driver of digital transformation in education and research. It aligns with Oman’s national vision to foster innovation and enhance efficiency across critical sectors. The summit will highlight global practices and demonstrate how AI technologies can improve learning quality and streamline academic and research systems.

Interactive Sessions and Expert Participation

The summit will feature interactive sessions, workshops, and technical presentations where participants can engage with leading specialists from technology and education sectors. Experts will share experiences and success stories in utilizing AI, providing practical insights to inspire innovation in Oman’s education and research landscape.

Promoting Practical Recommendations

One of the key objectives of OTS 2025 is to develop actionable recommendations for advancing education and research nationally. Participants will discuss strategies to integrate AI into teaching, learning, and research processes, helping to create smarter and more efficient academic institutions in line with global standards.

AI-Based Hackathon: Gemathon

A central feature of the summit is the AI-based hackathon, known as Gemathon. This competition will bring together students, innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers from across Oman. Participants will work in a competitive environment to design digital solutions that support the country’s goals of digital transition and sustainable development.

Hackathon Tracks and Objectives

Gemathon will focus on four main tracks: smart education and learning technologies; research and digital analysis; educational sustainability and inclusiveness; and entrepreneurship and institutional innovation. These tracks are designed to encourage innovative thinking and provide participants with opportunities to create impactful AI-driven solutions.

Encouraging Innovation and Collaboration

OTS 2025 aims to inspire collaboration among students, researchers, and professionals in the technology and education sectors. By showcasing practical applications of AI and fostering competitive problem-solving, the summit seeks to create a culture of innovation that contributes to Oman’s broader digital and sustainable development goals.

The summit underscores Oman’s commitment to modernizing education and research through technology. By combining expert insights, interactive learning, and practical competitions, OTS 2025 will play a key role in preparing the next generation of innovators, equipping them with the tools to transform Oman’s education and research systems.
