The Qatar Anti-Doping Commission (QADC) organized a workshop on Tuesday under the title “Roles and Responsibilities of Sports Bodies in Anti-Doping.” The event brought together representatives from national sports federations, clubs, Olympic and Paralympic committees, and government bodies. Its main aim was to strengthen national cooperation among sports organizations to create a united front against doping in sports.
Aim of the initiative
The workshop was designed to help Qatar’s sports community comply with the World Anti-Doping Code and other international standards. It also highlighted the core responsibilities of QADC, such as testing athletes, promoting education and awareness, conducting scientific research, approving therapeutic use exemptions, and managing results. By focusing on these areas, the commission seeks to build a transparent and fair sports environment.
Message from QADC leadership
Dr. Nasser Saad Al Saad, Chief Executive Officer of QADC, addressed the participants and praised the efforts being made across Qatar. He described the workshop as a key step in promoting clean and fair competition. However, he made it clear that progress cannot be achieved by QADC alone—it requires strong coordination and commitment from all sports bodies in the country. Dr. Al Saad stressed that only by working together can Qatar maintain integrity in its sporting community.
Engaging activities and discussions
The workshop featured several interactive activities, including presentations and awareness campaigns. Participants exchanged experiences and shared best practices on how to promote clean sport. Open discussions encouraged dialogue on building a culture of honesty, fairness, and health protection in sports. These exchanges also focused on the importance of continuous education, particularly for younger athletes who must be guided towards safe and responsible choices.
Addressing challenges and future vision
Towards the end of the workshop, the participants discussed challenges faced in the fight against doping and proposed practical solutions. They emphasized the importance of continuous research, better communication, and stronger cooperation among sports organizations. The meeting highlighted Qatar’s commitment to not only tackling doping locally but also playing a leading role in regional and international anti-doping efforts.
Connection to Qatar National Vision 2030
The outcomes of the workshop were also linked to the wider goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. This national strategy promotes health, fairness, and social development. By investing in clean sport initiatives, Qatar is showing its determination to protect athletes, ensure fair play, and build a respected international reputation in the field of sports.
