Families Key to Sustainability, Says Qatar Ministry

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has underscored the crucial role of families in fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices, as the nation observed Qatar Family Day 2026.

In an official statement, the ministry described the family as the foundation of environmental responsibility, calling it the first “school” where children learn essential values such as sustainability and the importance of conserving natural resources. It emphasized that building an environmentally conscious society begins at home, where individuals develop attitudes and behaviors that contribute to long-term sustainability.

The ministry highlighted that empowering families is a key pillar in achieving sustainable development goals, as they play a direct role in shaping responsible future generations.

To mark the occasion, the ministry illuminated its headquarters in green—a symbolic gesture representing growth, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. Officials noted that the color reflects the core values promoted through the ministry’s various programs and initiatives.

Reaffirming its commitment, the ministry announced plans to continue launching awareness campaigns targeting all segments of society, with a strong focus on engaging families in environmental protection efforts.

The celebration of Qatar Family Day, the ministry added, aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen social cohesion and nurture a generation that is informed, responsible, and capable of safeguarding the country’s natural resources and achievements.
