Qatar Joins Arab League to Stop Israel’s Harmful Actions in Gaza

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The State of Qatar participated in a special meeting of the Arab League Council. This meeting was an extraordinary session, meaning it was called quickly and was very important. It took place at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt. Representatives from different Arab countries came together to talk about serious problems faced by the Palestinian people, especially those living in the Gaza Strip. Qatar sent its Deputy Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Maryam Ahmed Al Shibi, to lead the country’s delegation at this meeting.

Purpose of the Meeting: Addressing Violence in Gaza

The main reason for this meeting was to talk about the ongoing violence and crimes committed by Israel, which is called the “occupying power” because it controls Palestinian land illegally. Israel has been carrying out aggressive military actions against the people of Gaza. These actions are causing great harm and suffering to Palestinian families. The meeting aimed to find ways to stop this violence and protect the Palestinian people.

Israel’s Plan to Control Gaza

During the meeting, it was discussed that Israel has plans to take full military control over the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip is a small area where many Palestinians live. Israel wants to control this area completely and make its occupation official. This means Israel wants to stay there and not leave. The plan also includes forcing many Palestinians to leave their homes and move somewhere else. This forced movement is called “forced displacement,” and it causes a lot of pain and loss for the people who have to leave.

Crimes Against Palestinians: Aggression and Genocide

The meeting pointed out that Israel’s actions are very serious and harmful. These actions include aggression, which means attacks and violence against people. It also includes genocide, which means trying to destroy a group of people because of their identity. The Palestinians in Gaza have been suffering from these crimes for a very long time. In fact, the meeting mentioned that for 673 days in a row, Israel has carried out these crimes. This includes using siege tactics, where the people of Gaza are cut off from receiving food, water, and medicine. This siege makes it hard for anyone to survive and is seen as a way to starve the people intentionally.

The Siege and Starvation as a Weapon

One of the most harmful things discussed in the meeting is the siege on Gaza. A siege means blocking the area so no supplies can enter or leave. Because of this, many people in Gaza do not have enough food or clean water. Hospitals and schools struggle to work without proper supplies. The meeting described this siege as a “weapon of genocide,” meaning it is a way to hurt and weaken the Palestinian people until they cannot survive. This is a very serious accusation and shows how dangerous the situation is in Gaza.

Forced Displacement and Ethnic Cleansing

The meeting also talked about “ethnic cleansing.” This term means trying to remove a group of people from their land because of their race or ethnicity. The Arab League discussed how Israel’s plans include forcing Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip. Many families will lose their homes and be forced to find new places to live, even though it is their own land. This is part of a bigger plan to make the Palestinian people disappear from this area, which the meeting strongly condemned.

Role of Qatar in the Meeting

Qatar played an active role in this meeting. Its Deputy Permanent Representative, Maryam Ahmed Al Shibi, led Qatar’s delegation. She participated in the discussions and showed Qatar’s strong support for the Palestinian people. Qatar has always been a supporter of Palestine and continues to work with other Arab countries to protect the rights of Palestinians. By attending this meeting, Qatar made clear its position against the violence and illegal occupation in Gaza.

Why the Meeting Was Called Quickly

This special meeting was requested by the State of Palestine because the situation was getting worse. The violence, attacks, and plans for forced displacement were continuing without any stop. The Palestinian leaders wanted the Arab League to act quickly and take strong steps to help. They asked for the meeting so that all Arab countries could come together and discuss what they could do to stop the Israeli aggression and protect Palestinians.

What the Arab League Wants to Achieve

The Arab League Council discussed several ideas and plans to stop the violence. They want Arab countries and the international community to take action. This action could include diplomatic pressure on Israel, asking other countries to stop helping Israel with military equipment, or calling for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza. The goal is to make sure the Palestinian people can live safely without fear of attacks or losing their homes.

Importance of International Cooperation

One important point made at the meeting is that stopping the violence cannot be done by Arab countries alone. The world needs to come together to help protect Palestinians. Many countries around the world care about human rights and peace. The Arab League wants these countries to join in efforts to bring an end to the violence and occupation. This includes using international organizations like the United Nations to support peace and justice.

The Human Cost of the Conflict

The meeting also highlighted the severe impact the conflict has on everyday people in Gaza. Many children, women, and elderly people suffer because of the violence and lack of supplies. Hospitals are overwhelmed with injured people. Schools are closed because it is not safe for children to attend. Families live in fear every day, and many have lost their loved ones. This human suffering was a strong reason for the Arab League to meet and act.

Qatar’s Continued Support for Palestine

Qatar has always supported the Palestinian cause. It provides aid, financial support, and political backing to Palestine. By leading its delegation in this meeting, Qatar showed that it continues to stand with Palestinians in their difficult times. Qatar calls for peace, justice, and respect for Palestinian rights. It also calls for an end to the siege and for Israel to stop all violent actions in Gaza.

Next Steps for the Arab League

After this meeting, the Arab League will work on more detailed plans. These plans will focus on protecting Palestinians and stopping Israel’s military control of Gaza. The Arab League will also continue to ask the international community to get involved and help find a peaceful solution. The goal is to bring safety and security to the people living in Gaza and to make sure their rights are respected.

A Call for Peace and Justice

This special meeting shows how serious the situation in Gaza has become. Arab countries, including Qatar, are united in their desire to stop the violence and protect Palestinians. They want the world to listen and act. The meeting was a step towards finding solutions that can end the conflict and bring peace to the region. It is a reminder that the Palestinian people need help now, and the international community must work together to ensure their safety and future.
