Qatar Calls for Dialogue to Strengthen Social Unity and Peace

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Qatar has emphasized that dialogue is the most effective way to strengthen social cohesion and reduce divisions based on religion, identity, and culture.

Speaking on Friday at a high-level conference on religious coexistence and diversity in Nicosia, Cyprus, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), said that building strong and united societies requires more than laws and government policies.

Dr. Al Nuaimi stressed that creating cohesive communities depends on promoting a culture of dialogue, building mutual trust, and giving greater support to educational, religious, and community institutions.

During his address, he highlighted Qatar's efforts to encourage interfaith and intercultural dialogue through the work of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue. He said the center organizes conferences, seminars, research projects, and international partnerships to strengthen cooperation between different cultures and faiths.

According to Dr. Al Nuaimi, these initiatives help reinforce shared citizenship, encourage peaceful coexistence, and promote acceptance of diversity as a source of cultural enrichment and human development.

He also warned that the growing challenges of hate speech, extremism, and social polarization require close cooperation among governments, civil society organizations, religious leaders, as well as educational and media institutions.
