Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed Mohammed Al Ansari confirmed that Qatar is continuing its active efforts to ensure that the current ceasefire in the Gaza Strip remains stable. He explained during the weekly media briefing that Qatar has been closely monitoring the implementation of the agreement from the first day through the Joint Monitoring Room in Cairo, working alongside several mediation partners.
Dr. Al Ansari stated that the violations recorded during the ceasefire are worrying and taken very seriously by Qatar. He stressed that monitoring teams continue their work to track these breaches so that the ceasefire does not collapse. He added that communication between all parties is ongoing to reach the next phase of the agreement, although no new progress has been formally announced. He also noted supportive statements from US officials encouraging the continuation of the ceasefire.
He affirmed that Qatari efforts remain strong in coordination with international partners. He expressed confidence in the US President’s plan and welcomed the American position supporting peace efforts. According to him, ongoing violations threaten the ceasefire and broader peace in the region, and Qatar shares these concerns with all partners involved in mediation.
Dr. Al Ansari also highlighted Qatar’s role in mediating between Venezuela and the United States, including helping with a recent hostage exchange. He confirmed that Qatar follows the situation closely and supports dialogue between both sides, ready to provide assistance whenever needed.
Addressing the situation of journalists in Gaza, he said that members of the press have suffered deeply during the war. He pointed out that the killing of reporters prevents the world from seeing the truth. Qatar consistently calls for the protection of media workers and the prevention of any direct targeting.
He added that the upcoming GCC Summit in Manama will focus on many regional issues, especially given the security challenges facing Gulf states. Regarding Qatar’s involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he said Qatar has worked from the beginning to support mediation efforts and helped reunite more than 115 affected children with their families.
Dr. Al Ansari also mentioned key diplomatic meetings held by Qatar over the past week, covering cooperation, humanitarian support, and regional coordination. He ended by reaffirming Qatar’s belief in resolving conflicts through peaceful solutions and dialogue.
