Sabrina Carpenter Critiques White House for Unauthorized Song Use

Post by : Meena Hassan

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has publicly condemned the White House for employing her song “Juno” in a video related to law enforcement in immigration matters.

Carpenter, an award-winning singer and songwriter, labeled the video as “evil and disgusting”, asserting, “Never involve me or my music to promote your inhumane agenda.” Her publicist directed media inquiries to Carpenter’s remarks on social media.

During her performances, Carpenter often stages playful mock “arrests” with pink fluffy handcuffs while singing “Juno” alongside celebrities.

In response, the White House cited Carpenter’s own lyrics, stating, “Here’s a brief message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminals. Anyone who stands up for such individuals must be either foolish or slow.” — commented spokesperson Abigail Jackson.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the video remained accessible on X and TikTok.

This incident is not isolated; previously, Olivia Rodrigo’s “All-American Bitch” faced similar issues after her objection led to a video being disabled on Instagram, although it persists on X. Usher’s “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” and Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” also experienced varied responses from the artists involved.
