Saudi Arabia Begins Second Term as ARABOSAI President

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Saudi Arabia has officially started its second presidential term at the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) for the period 2025–2028. The announcement was made during the fifteenth session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly, currently being held in Jeddah. This marks an important milestone for the Kingdom, reflecting its leadership role and the confidence of member countries in its capabilities.

The second term begins with Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Court of Audit, hosting the ongoing session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly. The Kingdom is now the first member to assume the presidency of ARABOSAI for two consecutive terms since the organization was established in 1976. This demonstrates the trust placed in Saudi Arabia’s audit institutions and their effective performance during the previous term.

During its first term (2022–2025), Saudi Arabia made significant contributions to ARABOSAI’s mission of enhancing cooperation among member institutions. The General Court of Audit played a vital role in strengthening joint efforts, sharing best practices, and implementing strategies that added real value to the organization. These achievements were recognized by all member institutions, leading to a unanimous decision to renew the Kingdom’s presidency for a second term.

The ARABOSAI General Assembly session in Jeddah serves as a platform for discussing important issues related to audit standards, governance, and financial oversight across the Arab world. The assembly gathers leaders and experts from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in member countries to exchange knowledge, discuss challenges, and explore ways to improve public sector accountability and transparency.

Saudi Arabia’s leadership is expected to focus on promoting the exchange of expertise, developing training programs, and supporting initiatives that enhance audit performance in member states. The Kingdom aims to continue building strong partnerships, encouraging collaboration, and advancing innovative approaches in auditing that align with global standards.

The General Court of Audit has been at the forefront of promoting excellence in auditing within Saudi Arabia and across the Arab region. By assuming the ARABOSAI presidency for a second term, the Kingdom will further support capacity-building programs, implement strategic initiatives, and contribute to the growth and development of audit institutions in member countries.

Saudi Arabia’s role as president will include organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences that focus on emerging trends in auditing, including the use of technology and digital tools to improve public financial management. These efforts are aligned with the Kingdom’s broader goal of enhancing transparency, accountability, and good governance in public institutions.

The decision to grant Saudi Arabia a second consecutive term highlights the recognition of its proactive approach and leadership in the Arab auditing community. The Kingdom’s contributions have strengthened the unity and efficiency of ARABOSAI, making it a more effective organization in supporting member states.

As the new term begins, Saudi Arabia is expected to maintain its focus on delivering high-quality audit practices, fostering collaboration, and supporting initiatives that promote knowledge-sharing among ARABOSAI members. The Kingdom’s presidency reflects its commitment to excellence, leadership, and sustainable development in public financial oversight.
