Saudi Arabia has opened its airspace to keep flights running smoothly as tensions rise in the region. The country is pulling out all the stops, using both manpower and resources, to handle the huge increase in flight traffic.
Right now, more than 1,330 flights are flying through Saudi airspace every day—nearly double the usual amount before the crisis hit.
These extra flights are being safely managed, thanks to the latest technology and strict security measures that meet international aviation standards.
To handle the growing number of flights, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has opened new flight routes and extra air corridors.
Saudi Arabia has also upgraded its air navigation system, making sure everything runs safely and efficiently. Enhanced security checks at airports and along flight paths are now in place, with advanced surveillance technology to keep everything secure.
Since the crisis began, more than 220 airlines have flown through Saudi airspace. The country has activated emergency plans to deal with the extra flights, using real-time management tools that make communication between operators fast and effective.
Saudi Arabia’s air control system is among the best globally, with 20 control towers, two regional centers managing 15 sectors, and 10 approach centers. The country has over 1,200 navigation devices and a team of more than 1,900 aviation professionals, including over 700 certified air traffic controllers.
