Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, completed a successful official visit to the United Arab Emirates. He led the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation at the second edition of the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi. The event, held under the theme “Driving the Future of Transport and Global Connectivity,” brought together transport leaders from around the world to discuss innovation and collaboration in the sector.

During his visit, Minister Al-Jasser emphasized the importance of transport infrastructure in supporting economic growth and regional integration. He highlighted the role of advanced rail networks in connecting Gulf and Middle Eastern countries, improving trade, and enhancing the mobility of goods and passengers. The minister also shared Saudi Arabia’s vision for sustainable and efficient transport systems as part of the nation’s broader economic development plans.

Participation in Ministerial Session

A key highlight of the visit was Minister Al-Jasser’s participation in a high-level ministerial session. The session focused on how transport and logistics can foster regional economic integration. Ministers discussed strategies for expanding rail connectivity, streamlining cross-border freight, and promoting seamless passenger services across the region. Al-Jasser contributed insights from Saudi Arabia’s ongoing transport projects and shared plans for future collaboration with neighboring countries.

The ministerial session also provided a platform for dialogue on technological innovation in the transport sector. Discussions included smart rail systems, digital tracking of goods, and environmentally friendly transport solutions. These initiatives are seen as critical to achieving faster, safer, and more sustainable regional transport networks.

Bilateral Meetings with UAE Officials

Minister Al-Jasser held a series of bilateral meetings with his Emirati counterpart. These discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in transport and logistics services between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The talks explored joint projects in rail development, freight transport, and infrastructure modernization, aiming to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.

In addition to ministerial talks, Al-Jasser met with several other government officials, ministers, and CEOs attending the exhibition. The meetings aimed to identify investment opportunities, share best practices, and discuss collaboration in advanced transport technologies. These interactions underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to working closely with regional partners to create efficient and integrated transport networks.

Focus on Regional Economic Integration

Throughout the visit, Minister Al-Jasser emphasized the central role of transport in supporting regional economic growth. Efficient rail and logistics systems are seen as essential for connecting markets, enabling trade, and creating new business opportunities. The minister highlighted that regional cooperation in transport infrastructure is key to achieving long-term economic sustainability and competitiveness.

The visit also served to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. By fostering partnerships in transport and logistics, both countries aim to create smoother trade routes, reduce transit times, and encourage investment in transport infrastructure projects.

Minister Al-Jasser’s visit to Abu Dhabi reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to enhancing regional transport networks. The discussions at the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition and Conference are expected to result in further cooperation between Gulf countries, leading to more connected, efficient, and sustainable transport systems.

The minister’s engagement with UAE officials and regional leaders underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in building modern rail infrastructure. These efforts are likely to benefit not only the Kingdom but the broader Middle East region by improving trade, mobility, and economic collaboration.
