Saudi Program Builds New School, Boosts Services in Yemen

Post by : Mumtaaz Qadiri

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has started building a new school in the Al-Mukalla District of Hadhramaut Governorate. This school is part of their mission to improve education in Yemen. The new school will have 24 classrooms and will include modern features like administrative offices and staff rooms. This model school aims to give students a better learning environment.

This new school is not the first one SDRPY has built. In fact, they have already built more than 30 model schools in different parts of Yemen. All these schools have strong buildings and are equipped with modern labs for chemistry and computer science. The goal is to give students a good education, help them learn useful skills, and encourage creative thinking.

Facilities to Support Quality Learning

The new model school in Al-Mukalla will be built with the latest educational needs in mind. It will not just be about classrooms. The school will have spaces for teachers and staff, making it easier to run the school smoothly. The chemistry and computer science labs will help students gain hands-on experience.

By building such schools, SDRPY is making sure that Yemeni children have access to the kind of education that helps them grow and succeed in life. These modern schools are meant to give students better opportunities, especially in areas that have been affected by conflict and lack of resources.

Road Project to Improve Travel

Along with education, SDRPY is also working on improving roads in Yemen. A team from the program visited several ongoing projects in the region. One of the major projects they visited was the Al-Abr Road project.

The first phase of this road project has already been completed. It covers 50 kilometers of road. Now, the second phase has begun and will cover an additional 40 kilometers. This road is very important because it helps connect different parts of the Hadhramaut Governorate, making it easier for people and goods to move from one place to another.

Enhancing Border Services

The SDRPY team also went to check the progress of another important project at the Al-Wadiah Border Port. This port is one of the key entry points for people and goods between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

At the border port, SDRPY is doing several things. They are building new buildings and repairing the ones that already exist. They are also upgrading the roads and open areas around the port. In addition, they are installing better surveillance systems to improve safety and security.

The project also focuses on improving basic services such as water and electricity. All of these changes are meant to make the border port work more smoothly and serve people better. This will help trade, travel, and movement between the two countries.

Visit to Another Model School

During their visit, the SDRPY team also checked on another school project. This school is called the Al-Sabban Model School, located in the Sayun District. Just like the new school in Al-Mukalla, this one is also being built with modern features.

The team reviewed how the construction was going and what still needed to be done. They want to make sure the school will be ready on time and will meet all the needs of the students and teachers. This visit shows SDRPY’s strong focus on quality and follow-up in every project they start.

Supporting Many Vital Sectors

SDRPY’s work is not limited to just schools or roads. The program has taken on a wide range of projects to support Yemen’s recovery and growth. So far, SDRPY has completed or is currently working on 265 projects and initiatives in different areas of the country.

These projects cover eight very important sectors:

  • Education – Building schools and providing learning tools.
  • Health – Supporting hospitals and clinics.
  • Transportation – Fixing and building roads.
  • Energy – Providing better electricity.
  • Water – Ensuring clean and safe water.
  • Agriculture and Fisheries – Helping farmers and fishermen.
  • Development Programs – Helping communities grow and improve.
  • Government Capacity – Training and helping local government offices to work better.

By working in these areas, SDRPY is helping to rebuild Yemen and give people a better future.

Long-Term Vision for Yemen’s Growth

The efforts by SDRPY show that rebuilding Yemen is not just about fixing buildings. It is also about helping people live better lives. Good education, safe roads, working hospitals, and clean water are all necessary for any country to succeed.

The Saudi program is focusing on long-term goals. This means they are not just helping for a short time. They are trying to make sure Yemen has strong systems that can continue to serve people for many years.

Every school built, every road repaired, and every water system upgraded is a step toward a better Yemen. SDRPY is working hand-in-hand with local communities to understand their needs and to provide solutions that really help.

A Helping Hand for Yemen

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen is making a big difference in the country. From building new schools to fixing roads and border ports, SDRPY is helping Yemeni people live better lives.

Their work in education is especially important because it prepares the next generation of Yemenis to build a brighter future. With over 265 projects already completed or underway, SDRPY is showing a strong commitment to helping Yemen recover, grow, and thrive.

The focus on modern schools, better roads, and improved border services shows that this is a full-scale effort to support Yemen in many ways. It is a clear example of how thoughtful, long-term development can make real change.
