SDAIA Upgrades Salwa Port Systems to Support Arab Cup 2025

SDAIA Upgrades Salwa Port Systems to Support Arab Cup 2025

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has strengthened the technical and operational readiness of Salwa Port in cooperation with the General Directorate of Passports. This step aims to ensure smooth and fast travel for visitors heading to the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, which will take place from December 1 to 18. The preparations reflect SDAIA’s ongoing commitment to supporting national infrastructure and improving travel procedures during major international events.

As part of these efforts, SDAIA upgraded the port with advanced systems to improve operational efficiency. This included enhancing the network infrastructure, integrating new operational systems with government platforms, and adding modern technical support devices. Dedicated teams were present on-site to supervise the systems, monitor performance, and ensure all services continued without interruption throughout the tournament period.

In partnership with the passports directorate, SDAIA also improved verification and matching systems used for identity checks. These enhancements are designed to speed up entry and exit procedures and help the port manage the expected rise in passenger numbers during the sporting event. The upgraded systems aim to reduce waiting times and create a more seamless travel experience for visitors.

SDAIA’s efforts at Salwa Port are part of a broader national plan to equip land, air, and sea entry points across Saudi Arabia with advanced digital technologies. These steps align with the Kingdom’s vision for a stronger and more efficient digital future. By using modern solutions, the authority aims to strengthen the country’s ability to serve citizens, residents, and international visitors with high reliability and accuracy.

The improvements also highlight Saudi Arabia’s readiness to support major events in the region and demonstrate its commitment to digital transformation. With enhanced systems and upgraded infrastructure, Salwa Port is now better prepared to handle increased travel activity while maintaining high standards of service and security. SDAIA’s work reflects its role in supporting national progress and helping the Kingdom build a strong, modern digital ecosystem.
