H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, who is the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Judicial Council, and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), was present during a very important event on Monday. A new agreement, called a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was signed between the Judicial Council and the University of Sharjah. This agreement shows that both sides want to work closely together to improve education and training in the legal and judicial fields in Sharjah.
Purpose of the Agreement
The main goal of the agreement is to build strong cooperation between two important institutions: the university and the judicial system. It focuses on joining their efforts to improve education, training, and research. This will help raise the level of legal and judicial knowledge and skills in Sharjah. The agreement also aims to support new ideas and help students and professionals grow through shared academic and practical experiences.
Who Signed the MoU
The signing took place at the University of Sharjah. Sheikh Faisal bin Ali Al Mualla, who is the Secretary-General of the Judicial Council, signed the agreement on behalf of the council. On the other side, Professor Dr. Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, who is the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, signed the MoU on behalf of the university. This step marks the start of many joint projects between the two institutions.
New Legal and Judicial Sciences Centre
As part of the agreement, a new Centre for Legal and Judicial Sciences will be created. This centre will be focused on doing high-quality research and studies in law and judicial matters. It will serve as a hub for students, professors, and legal professionals to access important publications, research papers, and information. The centre will also support the goals of the Judicial Council by offering research tools and expert advice.
Professorial Chair in Legal Studies
The agreement includes the possibility of starting a special position called a Professorial Chair in the area of judicial and legal studies. This is a highly respected academic post usually given to an expert who can lead research, give lectures, and develop new academic programmes. This step will help bring top legal minds to Sharjah and raise the academic standards of the university in this field.
Launch of New Academic Programmes
One of the exciting outcomes of the MoU is the launch of new academic programmes. These include a Master’s degree in Judicial Studies and a Legal Expert programme. Both programmes will be offered by the College of Law at the University of Sharjah. These courses will give students the knowledge and skills they need to work in the legal and judicial sectors. It also means that professionals already working in the field can continue learning and improving their abilities.
Practical Training for Students
The agreement also focuses on giving university students practical experience. New training programmes will be developed so that students can learn directly from working professionals in the judicial field. These hands-on experiences are very important because they prepare students for real-world legal jobs and improve their understanding of how the justice system works.
Support for Judicial Council Staff
The University of Sharjah will also support the staff of the Judicial Council by providing special academic and technical training. This will be done through workshops and training courses. These programmes will help Judicial Council employees improve their knowledge, stay updated with the latest legal practices, and perform their jobs more effectively.
Developing Leadership in Law and Justice
Another important part of the agreement is the development of a joint leadership programme. This programme will focus on training future leaders in the legal and judicial fields. Participants will learn about leadership styles, decision-making, communication, and ethics. It is designed to help build strong, confident leaders who can guide legal organisations and courts in Sharjah in the future.
Conferences and Forums on Legal Topics
To further strengthen their cooperation, the Judicial Council and the University of Sharjah will organise scientific conferences and forums. These events will bring together experts, students, and professionals to discuss legal topics, share experiences, and explore solutions to current challenges. These events will also help promote awareness and interest in legal education and judicial matters across the emirate.
Exchange of Experiences and Field Visits
The agreement also encourages the exchange of experiences between the two institutions. Staff members and students will be able to participate in field visits, internships, and joint workshops. This exchange will give both sides a chance to learn from each other’s work methods and improve their operations. It will also help students understand the real-life applications of their studies.
Shared Commitment to Development
This new cooperation shows that both the University of Sharjah and the Judicial Council are committed to working together for the development of the legal system in the emirate. They want to make sure that Sharjah has knowledgeable, well-trained legal professionals who can serve society with fairness and integrity. By combining academic knowledge with hands-on experience, this agreement will create a stronger, more advanced legal sector.
A Big Step Towards the Future
This agreement is seen as a big step forward in Sharjah’s journey to build a justice system that is smart, modern, and based on knowledge. It will help link what students learn in classrooms with what professionals do in courtrooms. The MoU will also support Sharjah’s long-term vision of creating a legal environment where transparency, fairness, and excellence are at the heart of all actions.
Sharjah’s Vision of Justice and Education
Sharjah is working to become a leader in education, research, and legal innovation. This agreement fits perfectly with that vision. By joining the strengths of the University of Sharjah and the Judicial Council, the emirate is creating a powerful partnership. This partnership will not only improve the current education and legal system but also prepare future generations to lead with knowledge and responsibility.
A New Chapter Begins
The Memorandum of Understanding between the Judicial Council and the University of Sharjah is more than just an agreement. It is a promise to support learning, grow professional skills, and build a justice system that works for all. From setting up new centres and academic programmes to offering hands-on training and leadership development, this step opens the door to many opportunities. It reflects a shared goal: to make Sharjah a model for legal excellence and academic strength in the region.
