UAE Defence Council Meeting Led by Sheikh Hamdan in 2025

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, chaired the third meeting of the Defence Council in 2025. The meeting focused on advancing the UAE’s defence capabilities, enhancing operational readiness, and ensuring the armed forces remain strong and modern.

Praise For Presidential Support

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan praised the continuous support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He highlighted the leadership’s commitment to developing national talent, investing in human resources, and using innovation and advanced technology to build a modern, integrated defence system.

Focus on National Defence Capabilities

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that developing the UAE’s integrated defence capabilities is a national priority. He said this reflects the leadership’s focus on creating a strong defence system that safeguards the country’s achievements while enhancing security and stability. He stressed the importance of equipping UAE personnel with modern knowledge, skills, and technologies to ensure readiness for any challenges.

Advancing Programmes and Innovation

The Crown Prince noted that the Defence Council is dedicated to advancing programmes and projects aimed at strengthening operational preparedness. He highlighted efforts to integrate advanced innovations into the defence sector. The leadership fully supports the armed forces to maintain global standards of efficiency, flexibility, and operational excellence.

Modernisation of the Defence Sector

The meeting reviewed the progress of programmes and projects focused on strengthening defence capabilities and modernising the UAE’s military sector. This includes using new technologies, training national talent, and upgrading systems to ensure the UAE continues to have a world-class defence structure.

Attendance of Senior Officials

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; and Major General Michael Hindmarsh, Adviser and President of Zayed Military University. Several senior officers and Ministry of Defence officials were also present, reflecting the high-level nature of the discussions.

Commitment to National Security

Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed that strengthening the UAE’s defence capabilities remains a priority for the leadership. The focus on innovation, training, and technology ensures that the armed forces are prepared to face all challenges while maintaining national security and stability. The Defence Council continues to play a key role in advancing the UAE’s military capabilities and operational readiness.
